How did you get started on bridal accessories?
I started in bridal 30 years ago fresh out of college with my fashion arts diploma in hand. I started mainly making gowns for brides as my first job and fell in love with the bridal business, it wasn't until 15 years ago that I started making accessories for the bride. I was looking at the accessories & jewelry brides were bringing in to go with the gowns, and what bridal stores were selling and always thought I could offer something more style wise, so I started to design.
What are your favorite materials/weapon of choice?
I love delicate french laces, silk fabrics, freshwater pearls and of course lots of crystal, with Swarovski being my crystal of choice. I also love vintage and love to incorporate little touches of vintage into my designs through the use of vintage jewelry, lace, & tulle. I love to imagine what the story is behind every little vintage piece I find.
What do you love the most about your work?
I love to make a bride feel pretty for her wedding day. I only sell on-line these days so I don't often see the brides wearing my designs, and when a bride sends me a photo of herself on her wedding day I am so thrilled. It is such an honour to be a part of one of the most important days in a women's life.
